2021 Wildflower Show Announcement & Developing Schedules
OVERVIEW (schedule below)
The Northcoast Chapter of the California Native Plant Society invites the public to our second COVID-safe virtual Wildflower Show. This year we will have more opportunities for everyone to participate and safely share their wildflower experiences, both in the field via iNaturalist, and through our Art Share program, which already has its own web area. If you are unfamiliar with iNaturalist, the online citizen-naturalist info-sharing platform, we'll help you get started - because the Wildflower Show will be using it in three important ways:
- photo platform for our specimens - This year our intrepid collectors will again be taking photos, instead of gathering the live specimens that historically have been part of the show.
- Wildflower "Bio-Blitz - Do you have some favorite wildflower species that you want to share? Of course. That's why we are inviting everyone to participate virtually in a public wildflower photo frenzy. (No meet-ups! And no trampling, please!) Stay tuned for the dates and details of how to participate.
- Virtual Wildflower Walks - Starting Saturday April 17, photos of the flowers blooming right now on some popular trails will be posted in the "Spring Plant Walks in Northern California" iNaturalist project. Advice for navigating iNaturalist is available there also.
GETTING STARTED TAKING PICTURE WITH iNATURALIST.... Some tips from Susan Penn
VISITING OUR iNATURALIST PROJECTS... iNaturalist web pages are laid out in a special way. When our projects go online, we'll provide some tips about how to browse our photos.
